It's one of those things that we all want, but is so dependent on the weather patterns in Texas. We want snow. We crave snow.

Then we get it and wish it would go away because we remember how many people struggle with driving in it. Ok, all jokes aside, snow in Texas partially depends on where in the state you live and whether or not you get that freak snowstorm.

I remember when I lived in Austin, it was a relatively rare occurrence to see snow falling from the sky. There was one evening where it was coming down heavy and fast. Big thick snowflakes that were sticking to the ground.

Within 20 minutes, the ground was white as could be and the kids were running around in it. The joy on their faces was worth every flake that fell. Now, they ask if it's going to snow any time soon.

Let's just say the forecast for it looks relatively confusing.

Our snow and precipitation level in the winter depends on La Nina coming through hard and heavy, and this year, NWS forecasters don't anticipate it doing that in Texas.

However, that doesn't mean that we aren't going to get some snow. While they're predicting we'll have above average temperatures for the season, the forecasters are also saying there our chances at cold weather events happening are "greater-than-average".

If you remember the winter storm that happened in 2021 that was aptly named Uri, then that's where your brain shifts when you think about "cold weather events". While we could see some extreme storms, they don't predict anything as bad as that.

They did state that the pattern is similar to when we had that storm, but alas, we shouldn't end up in that position again.
