A student with a shotgun walked into Arapahoe High School in Colorado on Friday, apparently targeting a teacher, and shot a fellow student before turning the gun on himself. The teenager who was shot was taken to a local Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said the suspected shooter was found dead inside the school — apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities said the gunman was a student.

Robinson continued to say the student was armed with a shotgun, and that the specific teacher the student had targeted was escorted out of the building safely. One of the students who was injured suffered injuries after confronting the suspect as he walked through the school.

Some students told their parents that they heard as many as six gunshots fired inside the school.Paramedics and police rushed to the school.

Parents were told to pickup their students at a designated area secured by police. The school is just eight miles away from Columbine High School, the site of another tragic shooting that left 13 dead in 1999.
