Drug Growing Operation Shut-Down In Amarillo

A drug growing operation in the 1500 block of South Alabama Street was shut down today. Two local resident from Amarillo on Friday were detained and charged with possession of "the green" in a drug-free zone. First of all, I didn't know there was a non drug-free zone here in Amarillo. Growers Larry Wayne Norris, 39, and Joey Leon Horton, 30 are now unemployed  form their mini drug growing operation. Officers smelled "the green" on the two men and in the house.

Local authorities had a search warrant that had been issued for the home. The officers then found 50 plants growing in containers in the home’s backyard. They also found lights and other items used to grow indoors.

Since the two men who were shut down were fired from their jobs, they are now qualified for unemployment.
