As we all know, the 2016 Presidential election is November 8th.  If you are not yet registered to vote, you better hurry because the deadline is fast approaching.

This year's election has been so close that every single vote will make a difference.  If you want to make sure that your voice was heard, you need to head to the polls.  And if you have always wanted to vote but are not a registered voter, you need to hurry because the deadline to register to vote will be here before you know it.

In order to vote, your application needs to be in the voter's registrar's office at least 30 days before an election.  So that means the deadline to vote for the next President is October 11, 2016.  That is less than two weeks away.

To be eligible to register in Texas, you must:

  • be a U.S. citizen;
  • be a resident of the county;
  • be 18 years old (you may register at 17 years and 10 months);
  • not a convicted felon (unless a person's sentence is completed, including any probation or parole)
  • not declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law
