All That Rain We Got? Just Created More Amarillo Problems.
All this rain we've gotten over the past couple of weeks has definitely had you reacting one way or another, hasn't it?
The first way is, "we really needed this rain" and you'd be 100% correct in feeling that way. We have needed it, and we aren't complaining about it. The other way to react was, "I'm so tired of the rain, make it stop" which is also a valid way to feel.
After countless baseball games and practices getting cancelled for my boys, I was definitely on the second response of wanting it to stop. I agree, we needed the rain desperately, but I'm over it. Make it stop.
No matter how you feel, the rain caused probably more chaos and issues than you realize, and we're dealing with some of those after the fact, a couple that we could be dealing with until the next time it decides to pour down on us.
One of the things we're dealing with thanks to it all are potholes all over the city on our roads. Look, our roads in Amarillo are already in relatively bad shape. Now, the rain has created even MORE issues, and one has to question how quickly the city will react in fixing those things.
Next issue we're dealing with? Mosquitos are now extremely prevalent in the area. I mean this is normally the time of year we start dealing with them, but not like this. They came out of the woodwork with all this rain, and you can't step outside without getting nipped. Time to invest in a ton of bug spray.
Last, but certainly not least, the smell. Oh my goodness the smell. I know, "smells like money" but we're smelling a LOT of money right now. Rain and excrement don't go well together. Tack on a little bit of heat and humidity a bit higher than normal, and you can't escape the smell no matter where you are. Yeah, that's not going away until things dry up completely.
Thanks for blessing us with the rain though, we needed it...even if we don't want to deal with everything else it brought in.
