Amarillo Police Department has a message. Stop the madness and the racing here in Amarillo. It is dangerous. Oh, and if you play the numbers game eventually they will get you.

They are reaching out asking for our help to turn in these illegal racers. From the APD Facebook page:

The police department is asking for your help. If you know about a street racing event, or see this happening, please call 806-378-3038 to report these crimes.

They have a photo of a car on this post warning that they will take your car and use it for good. They will turn your illegal street and turn it into an official police car. Good for them.

When I started looking more into this story that I first saw a week or so ago I saw there was even more to it. Yes, this is great that Amarillo Police Department is trying to put an end to something that is dangerous to anyone on our streets.

This gets even better when I look more into the story. I ended up down a rabbit hole that brought me to Brandi Jo's Facebook page. She had photos of this car posted as well. Her story is a bit different.

She was married to Corporal Mike Sanchez. Mike Sanchez passed away back in December. I have had the pleasure of running into Mike at several events around town. He was good friends with one of my friends. So we would always stop and talk with him when we ran into him in Downtown Amarillo.

Mike was one of the main forces that brought down this vehicle. He spent many nights and lost much sleep bringing this car down. So when you see this car around town take a moment and think about the man that gave so much for this city.

Thank you Amarillo Police Department for not only doing its job trying to stop illegal racing but also thank you for giving Mike the recognition deserved. Helping to keep his memory alive here in Amarillo.

The 806's Strange & Screwed Up Crimes Of 2021.....So Far

It's 2021 and folks are making up for staying indoors and following the law all throughout 2020. This isn't always a good thing, though. There have been quite a few odd, wacky, and outright grotesque crimes committed in the Texas Panhandle this year so far.

From Friona to Lubbock, there's plenty of bad behavior on display throughout the 806 in 2021.

Take a look at what these hellions have gotten themselves into:

Pleased To Be Here: Happiest Mugshots of Randall County

My my my! These are some happy campers.

You'd think having your mugshot taken would be far from one of your finer moments.....but these inmates prove that you can always turn that frown upside down.
