Amarillo Police Department Participates In National Night Out
Tomorrow, October 4th, is National Night Out and Amarillo Police are getting involved!
The National Association of Town Watch hosts this program every year and it is all to benefit neighborhood watch programs and maybe get some new watch groups started.
National Night Out was started to bring the neighborhoods together and promote relationships between the community and the police. Overall, it will build better and healthier relationships and safer communities.
With National Night Out being tomorrow, several neighborhoods have planned community barbecues, walks and get togethers to get to know the neighbors. They have even invited police to attend. The goal is to get the community outside and meeting the people that live around you.
If your neighborhood is hosting a gathering and would like a member of the police department to swing by, no matter how big or small, they would love to come. You can call Officer Jeb Hilton at 378-4257 or email him at APDCrimeprev@amarillo.gov.
If your neighborhood doesn't have anything planned, there is going to be an Amarillo wide gathering at Target. They will have hot dogs and the APD will be making child IDs. There will also be bounce houses and the APD will have information about starting a neighborhood watch program in your area.
