A mother from Washington state is shaking up the Internet after posting pictures of her kids getting severely sunburned at school during field day.

Mother, Jesse Michener, was shocked when she saw her three daughters come home with first- and second-degree sunburns after Field Day at Point Defiance Elementary School in Tacoma last week. She noticed it was not just an average sunburn and rushed her kids back to the school for some answers on why they wouldn't allow her kids to put on sunscreen.

The school principal's response centered around the the school's inability to administer what they considered a prescription medication (sunscreen). He sited liability to be the main reason. The reason Michener did not apply sunscreen to the children before school was because "it was raining." One of Michener's kids said that their teacher was using sunscreen but, it was “just for her.”

After complaints of chills, pain, and headaches the mother rushed her kids to Tacoma General. After the doctors did tests on the kids, they notified the mother that her kids have severe burns that will lead to blisters. This brings up so many questions.

Why didn't the school contact the parents and tell them to bring sunscreen? Why was the teacher allowed to apply sunscreen and the kids weren't?

Maybe the school should have a little more concern for these kid's health, especially when the temperatures continue to get hotter!
