Did You See The Lunar Eclipse? It Was Magical, & We’ll Never See It Again.
Last night, we got a chance to be a part of history...but only if you woke up to do so.
A lunar eclipse happened, and while that isn't something that seems overly noteworthy, it was.
So why was this one different from any other one we've been able to experience?
You see, this is the most the moon has been covered up in approximately 580 years. Let me type that out for you...
FIVE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY YEARS!!
This is something our great grandparents, their grandparents, so on and so forth never experienced. At approximately 3am on November 19, 2021 we were able to.
As you can see, there was no way I was passing up a chance of seeing something that is beyond once in a lifetime. I mean, this is more rare than once in a generation.
My only regret was not having something better than my camera phone, because these pics don't do it ANY justice.
My family and I stepped outside at around 2:58am and looked straight up at the sky. What we saw was purely majestic. This incredible red moon, and just a SLIVER of the white we typically see. The glow it gave off was breathtaking.
You could see constellations of stars almost better than you can ever see inside city limits. In fact, there was a cluster of stars right next to the moon. I'm not up on my astronomy so I don't even want to take a guess as to what it may have been. All I know is I feel like I've never seen it before.
The kids were in amazement, my oldest in particular. He loves space and everything to do with it. He's wildly intrigued by it. He took it all in, pure amazement in his eyes.
Then he turned around, walked towards the front door and said goodnight.
We're all a bit tired today, and probably will need the entire weekend to get caught back up on sleep. It was worth it though, as it's all but guaranteed we'll never see this again. At least not in our lifetime.
