Does KFC’s Chicken And Donuts Live Up To Chicken And Waffles?
Is there nothing safe from the fast-food-chicken-war?! KFC is selling sandwiches made out of donuts and fried chicken. I had to try it; for science.
The new menu item comes in two varieties. One is a sandwich. One is a basket, which is the ingredients for the sandwich just not put together.
I ordered the basket, and decided to start by making my own sandwich. Just in case I didn't like it.
It's time for honesty. I'm not going to tell you it was amazing. I'm not going to tell you it was shockingly good. It was...ok.
The donut was good. Incredibly messy, but good. The sweet from the donut mingled with the chicken and 11 herbs and spices well enough that I ate the whole thing, but I wasn't left wishing I had more.
I kept waiting for a "wow" moment, and it just didn't happen. Separate, the chicken and donuts are good. Together, they're ok.
I imagine that if you love chicken and waffles, and love having the syrup on your chicken, then this will be something you'll go back for more than once.
For me, it wasn't the most amazing thing I've tried on a fast food menu and I don't know that it's something I'm going to order again.
