Got Gnats? Here’s How You Can Get Rid Of Them In Amarillo, TX.
There's been a lot of mention made with the mosquitoes flying around Amarillo, TX. lately. Yes, we've had more than usual due to all the moisture we've received lately, but there's another issue that not a lot of people are talking about, and I'll bet it's affecting you as well.
This is an issue that's even more annoying than mosquitoes. At least they're big enough to smack against a window or hard surface and get rid of them. These pesky little ones though are so difficult to make go away though, and they annoy you even more than your own kids can at times.
Gnats. Fruit flies. Drain flies. Whatever you call them, they are all the same. They love to hover around and annoy you. The worst part about them? You don't even really see them unless you disturb an area they're hanging out in.
Most of the time, you'll find them hanging around your kitchen sink. I know that's where ours have been. Now, I'll be the first to admit, we aren't the type of people in our family to constantly have an empty sink. However, we also aren't the type to leave dishes in them for five straight days. It's not like our kitchen is "dirty".
So how exactly can you get rid of these pesky little fliers? There are a few things you can try. The thing you need to know is that they typically live in your drains, so that's the area you want to attack. Sure, you can hang some fly paper and you'll nab some of them, but you won't completely get rid of them.
An easy one you can do, that anyone can do, is let some hot water just run for a few minutes. This helps push the flies out of the drain area where they manifest. The more you do this, the less you'll have buzzing around. If you want to try something a bit more permanent, you can try pouring some non-oxygenated bleach down your drain, that may just do the trick.
Another method you can try is external. If you pour a bit of cider or red wine vinegar into a bowl, then cover it with some plastic wrap while poking some little holes in it, they'll fly into it thinking it's a source of food and it'll dissolve their wings.
