Amarillo Kids Paint ‘Historic Cadillac Ranch’ Rainbow Colors To Celebrate Gay Pride
If you drive down Historic Route 66 today and pass by Cadillac Ranch you'll notice that the cars are painted rainbow colors. There is a reason for that.
A group of Amarillo kids woke up early this morning and spray painted all the cars in a multi-colored rainbow to celebrated Gay Pride. One of the members had this to say:
'It was still dark when we got there (we wanted to be done before the haters had a chance to get organized), the ground was muddy, and the wind blew the spray-paint back into our faces, but we had a blast!'
I have no idea how long the Cadillacs will stay these colors. Cadillac Ranch and Historic Route 66 are tourist attractions and draw thousands of people each day. It is a bit of a tradition that people who visit Cadillac Ranch generally spray paint their names on the cars.
I happen to know some of the individuals who took part in this and it's great to see that they are not afraid to express their feelings about such a hot topic.
In many cities they have celebrations or parades for Gay Pride Week. I know in Denver they have a huge parade and festival downtown and draws thousands of people to the event.
