This has been a highly debated topic for quite a while and finally it's now hitting so close to home, that is literally in our house.  The Texas Senate committee has approved drug testing/drug screenings for individuals to receive welfare benefits.  I say, I'm all for it!

I mean don't get me wrong, I understand that if you're out of work you might feel down in the dumps and want to escape reality, but reality is inescapable!

Here's how it works, when families that are "poor" and in need of help apply for welfare benefits, a Human Services Commission will screen the individuals to determine if they are a potential risk of drug users or abusers.  Those who "appear" to use drugs will be screened, and those who have prior convictions of a drug offense will automatically be subject to screening.

If you're like me, you might be thinking; "well this is a good idea, but how many children will suffer because they have parents that use drugs?".  Well, they actually have a solution for that!

"The bill includes a system to make sure children will receive benefits, even if their guardian tests positive for drugs.

So now that it's actually happened in Texas, do you agree with the new bill?  Let me know in the poll below!
