Over the weekend downtown Amarillo got a lot more colorful. A lot more art was brought to our great city. The Hoodoo Mural Festival happened and there was a lot to show off with all the hard work in our city.

We have been keeping up with the different artwork added to our already beautiful city. There was one mural I wasn't anticipating. One that they somehow were able to keep under wraps.

Even more important was one that the city needed. Over the summer we lost, Texas Panhandle Native Terry Funk. He brought a lot of joy to us all those years in the wrestling ring. Not only that but he even had a few roles in a couple of movies. Terry Funk was someone we were proud of.

So we were able to wake up to the news over the weekend that one of the murals was used to honor him. This was one of those surprise murals. I mean it is hard to keep one under wraps. It's not like painting a mural is an easy task.

It takes time. It takes work. It takes a lot of plans.

The folks at Hoodoo Mural Festival were able to pull this one off. Which is pretty cool. If you are going to surprise us with a mural I would say a Terry Funk mural is worthy.

Of course, we had to check it out. So I drove out to check it out in all of it's glory. It looks even better in person. If you want to check it out you can head to the Amarillo National Bank parking lot in the five hundred block of South Polk.

This was a great surprise for Amarillo for the start of the Hoodoo Mural Festival.
