McDonald’s Happy Meals Reminds Me of Past Amarillo Frenzy
As kids are growing up it seems like they have so many cool toys. Every generation has its frenzy. I mean since the eighties for sure. Remember the Cabbage Patch craze?
McDonald's has been good with tying their Happy Meals into some of the most popular pop culture toys. They really have. In the nineties, I remember going and collecting the Beanie Babies that they had in their Happy Meals.
I collected the whole set that they had in 1996. My daughter was just born this year so I thought it would be something cool to collect. Oh, and Beanie Babies. Need I say more in the nineties?
I also collected the whole set that they put out in 1998. I guess you could say I was part of the frenzy. I remember a lot of us moms going to McDonald's a lot scoping out which ones they had to offer at the time.
Here we are in 2024 and McDonald's newest Happy Meal toy is the Squishmallows. So I told my daughter about them because my two-year-old granddaughter loves the Squishmallows. What kid doesn't?
I went and got a Happy Meal here and they got one in Dallas yesterday. I will say two things about these toys. I don't like how they are packaged. You can't tell which one you are getting. So you can't collect them in complete sets unopened. If that is important to a collector and it is.
Plus they are not all squishy like the ones you buy in the store. They are not made and filled the same way. They are cute though. Oh, and my granddaughter loves the two that she got.
They are cute and there are twelve to collect. There is a mystery one and I will let you in on a secret. It's the Hamburgler. It gives it a way on the back of the packages they come in.
Have you gone to McDonald's yet to get your kiddo a Squishmallows toy? Which one did you end up with?
