We have to talk about it. The temperatures keep going up. It's still pretty early this spring and we have hit the high eighties and even nineties. I love the warmer weather but sometimes our homes can get pretty toasty.

We want our home to be comfortable. We also want our air conditioning not to work overtime. So this is the time we want to utilize our ceiling fans. Let them do some of the work in keeping our homes a bit cooler.

I love the fact that I have a ceiling fan in the bedrooms and living room in my home. That does make things more comfortable. You only really want to run them when you are actually in the room. Otherwise, you really are just wasting energy.

Also always make sure you have the blades rotating in the correct direction to make sure you are getting the most bang for your buck. The blade direction is really important.

In the spring and summer, when the temperatures are warmer you want to make sure your blades are rotating counterclockwise. That way the fans are pushing the cooler air down and keeping your rooms cooler.

This is the direction you want to create a cool breeze for you and your family. When adjusting the blades make sure you have the button on the base of your ceiling fan pushed down during the spring and summer. That is the way you know your blades are spinning in the right direction to keep you cool.

In the fall and winter, you want them spinning in the opposite direction. To ensure you are working efficiently. You will want that button in the up position. This will make sure the blades are spinning clockwise.

That direction will ensure the fan blades are circulating warm air throughout the room. Plus will help keep your heating bills a little more efficient.
