New Red Light Cameras In Amarillo Going To Be Activated This Week!

I warned you about the new red light cameras back in September, and the time has come!  The new red light cameras for Amarillo in 2013 will be activated this week!  You wanna know where they're at?  Keep reading!

Workers relocated a camera from the intersection of S Pierce St and SE 3rd Ave to the northbound approach at W Amarillo Blvd and Tascosa Road.

Cameras were also added at the westbound approach at E Amarillo Blvd and N Fillmore St, westbound E Amarillo Blvd at N Pierce St, and southbound S Taylor St at SW 10th Ave.

This brings our grand total to 8 red light cameras in Amarillo since they added 3 and relocated one of the existing 5 we already had.

They’ve shelled out close to 12,000 tickets with the 5 already at intersections.  This will probably double that number.

My understanding is for the first month of the new cameras operation, warnings will be issued.  After that month ends, citations will be issued.

Interesting fact...the Coulter & Elmhurst red light camera yields the most violations.  That camera alone has issued over 5,000 tickets!
