With all the shootings that have happened at schools across the country, the last thing you want to hear is your child coming home and telling you it happened at their school.  Well, it happened at Wayne County school and it was all planned by the school officials!

As a mom, I worry all the time about my son.  If he is eating properly, getting enough sleep, and is he healthy enough.  I do not want to worry about sending him to school and the school officials scaring the crap out of him.

Friday, school officials at Eastern Wayne Middle School decided that it would be a good idea to run some practice drills so that students are aware of their surroundings.  A school employee dressed up in a ski mask and had a fake gun.  He then pretended to be a robber at the school.

Can you imagine how scared these middle schoolers must have been?  I am sure they were terrified.  The teachers then explained to them that it was all staged and part of a practice drill.

There are other ways to have practice drills without scaring the bejesus out of these kids.  When practicing fire drills, they don't set the building on fire!

After getting phone calls from some parents, the school admitted that is was a bad idea.  You think? They then sent home a letter that said:

"As part of an enrichment lesson on exhibiting good citizenship and observing your surroundings, another staff member entered the sixth grade classrooms and pretgend to steal an item while dressed in a ski-mask and holding a toy pistol. Even though the play-acting caused some initial concerns, once the skit was completed, the teachers quickly explained who the person was and that the 'theft' was not real."

With all the violence in the world, we don't need kids to be afraid of their school officials.

Do you think the school is wrong for having this drill?
