I'm seeing some very upset postings on Facebook about baby Alissa Guernsey's murderer, Christy Shaffer, being released from jail after only serving 77 days.

Okay, my first reaction is agreement with the public that is up in arms about the situation.  There are people out there that got caught with drugs, good people, they just have a problem.  Instead of say sending them to rehab and helping them, they are sending them to prison to serve 10 years!  But this girl, WHO KILLED A BABY, is walking after 77 days?  ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

Let's have a look at what the reasoning behind the release is.

Facebook - Baby Alissa Cries 4 Justice page:

In his order, VanDerbeck found that at the time of the offence, Shaffer had opened her home “and was being a Good Samaritan to a family member in a time of need when a tragic event occurred. There is nothing that can be done to bring back the life of the dependent child victim and there is little added value in penalizing Christy Shaffer or her family further by continuing the period of incarceration.”
“She has also been a continuous provider of love and affection to her own biological family,” his order reads.

**After that the Judge is deciding what to do with Christy's children and goes on to say this *keep in mind "Mr.Sprunger" is Christy Shaffer's FATHER..Kerry Sprunger!

"I know Mr. Sprunger. He's been on some boards with me -- ah -- the Council on Aging. We've sat next -- together for several years. We're just making the county safer for elderly citizens," VanDerbeck continued during the hearing. "I know he's got a good heart. ... I think I went to a baseball game with him. So I wouldn't do that, if they were bad people. But, still, something bad has happened."

Okay so I'm not a lawyer nor am I in anyway educated in the legal system, but doesn't that seem like a case of "it's who you know" in that quote?  It appears the judge let this girl off, because he's friends with her dad?  Wouldn't that be considered a conflict of interest?

I know there are 2 sides to every story, but this seems pretty black & white to me.  A girl killed a baby, and she served 77 days in jail.  Seems like an impartial ruling, right?  This doesn't look like "justice", it has corrupt written all over it!

We need to get Dexter to get his kit, and go serve up some real justice!  If you watch the show, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Let's see what the public has to say!
