Medical marijuana has its pros and cons, as with most medicinal drugs,  Yet, even with the proven benefits for medical marijuana used with cancer, HIV/AIDS patients and even veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Texas still has yet to consider making medical marijuana legal.  Is it time for the state of Texas to re-think this issue?

Any possession of marijuana in the state of Texas is illegal, even for medical purposes.  The state still considers marijuana as a schedule one drug.  This means a patient traveling through Texas with medicinal marijuana and a prescription could face jail time if they're caught while in Texas.

Many people believe Texas must make a change to allow for its use medicinally.

“What we need, for starters, is to decriminalize possession and we need to create a defense expressly based on necessity for people that really need it. Then we ought to let the jurors decide,” said Blackburn.

Though it may not be on the ballot box this year, advocates and opponents have agreed that the issue of legalizing marijuana could be coming to Texas soon."

Again, with the legalization of medical marijuana comes both pros and cons...the question is, do the pros outweigh the cons?
