St. Mary’s Cathedral School was on a temporary lock-down yesterday afternoon after students reported hearing gunshots in the area.  Amarillo Police secured the area as teachers got all the students in doors and locked up the entire school.

Some students were on the playground during recess and reported it to a teacher.  The lock-down only lasted about 15 minutes.

"About 3:20 p.m., students on the playground told an adult they heard shots, and they were brought indoors while adults contacted police, principal Kathi Lewis said. Police searched the area but said they didn’t find a gun or shooter.

The school was under lockdown for 15 minutes, Lewis said, and police continued to control the area during dismissal."
