Fireworks are as much a part of July Fourth as barbecues, parades and red, white and blue, but have you ever stopped to think what makes them flare up in the first place?

The 4th of July is fast approaching and that means fireworks galore!  With fireworks and get togethers, something is bound to go wrong.  Here are 10 things that could go wrong on the 4th of July.

Every year, we hear rumors of Amarillo Police doing DWI checkpoints during holidays, like the upcoming 4th of July weekend.  And every year, they are just that, rumors.  While DWI checkpoints won't be set up on the streets of Amarillo, you can expect to see an increase in officers on patrol.

In short, there is no ban for popping fireworks for 4th of July 2014 in Amarillo.  However, the same ordinance that has been in place for about 30 years still stands.  Restrictions simply say not to be popping, possessing, storing, selling, manufacturing or handling of any sort within the Amarillo city limits.  I know that seems like a lot, but it's the same law we've followed for a very long time
