In a similar move Amarillo Independent School District is doing the same thing. They kicked off the program at Amarillo Schools yesterday. I just love it. I sure wish this was something that was offered when my daughter was in school. It would have been a huge blessing.
It may be cold outside but if this story doesn't melt your heart you may need to get it checked out. Imagine being an eight year old and knowing your mom is not there every night to tuck you in because she is serving in the military.
We all know that the graduates this year have encountered an interesting school year. They have all missed out on a regular graduations. They have been able to have virtual graduations that started with them at a location social distancing. Amarillo is trying to do all they can to make the Class of 2020 feel special.
With what should have been the end of Spring Break and the kiddos going back to school of course that is not happening. Not sure when or if the kiddos will be going back this school year due to Covid-19.
There are a lot of changes this year due to Cornavirus. We are learning to wash our hands. That is probably the best thing happening. There are also a lot of things being cancelled.
There are so many ways the world has changed since I went to school. I don't remember one time that there was a threat to a school I attended. We had fire drills and tornado drills.
So remember back in the day when school wouldn't start until after Labor Day? Yeah, those days are long gone. It started to seem though that school would start earlier and earlier each year.
