And so it begins. Halloween is a little over a month away, and we are starting to see events being canceled.

Today, the 6th Street Creepy Crawl announced on Facebook that they had made the tough decision to cancel the event for this year. They give a couple of reasons for their decision.

First, there are the obvious concerns over the health and well-being of the children and those who will be in attendance. As much as we all want to have a fun night out, no one wants to have an event that may result in children getting sick.

Second, and what wasn't as obvious, were the concerns over what rules and regulations will be like for venues and crowds when Halloween finally gets here. As we've talked about several times now, the rules seem to be constantly in flux. This makes it tough to plan an event as big as the 6th Street Creepy Crawl.

The Creepy Crawl usually includes lots of activities for the kids, food, and live music. Not only do you have to think about what the possible "guidance" will be, but what are the rules going to be when it comes to having a large event like that.

It's not all bad news though. They will still be raising funds for a local non-profit. Be sure to give their Facebook page a "like" so that you can stay up to date.

It makes me wonder about all of the other events we usually have around Halloween. Will there still be Trunk-Or-Treats this year? Will people be out in massive crowds trick-or-treating? What about the haunted houses we have in town; will they be able to operate?

I hope so, but I'm not holding my breath.
