The Results Are In, Amarillo Is More Fun Than Lubbock

Has anyone ever said to you that Amarillo is not a fun place to live or visit? Well now, you can tell them to go eat a tumbleweed. The folks at WalletHub compared over 180 cities and towns across America to see who has the most fun, and it turns out Amarillo ranks right in the middle. In fact, we are ranked at 101, while Lubbock is ranked at 119. That means Amarillo has more fun than Lubbock.

In the study, 66 key metrics were factored to find the ranking of each city. They range from fitness centers per capita to movie costs to average open hours of breweries. Those metrics are put into 3 categories: "Entertainment & Recreation," "Nightlife & Parties," and "Costs." Overall, Las Vegas ranks #1 as the most fun city in America. However, when you break it down by category, Amarillo is the most cost effective city to have in. We ranked #1 in the cost category. In "Entertainment & Recreation" we are #156 and in "Nightlife & Parties" we are #174.

While we don't rank very high in the other categories, with the lost cost to have fun in Amarillo, you can come to the conclusion that we tend to have more fun because it is cheaper to do so in Amarillo. Lubbock does rank a little better in the other categories, however their cost ranking is #57. One area that Amarillo could really step up our game is in festivals. We rank near the bottom of the festivals per capita. In fact, the lowest rank cities for festival per capita are all in Texas.
