A fire broke out near Canyon, TX today after a local man was unable to control a "controlled fire".  About 15 acres were burned in the incident.  Emergency vehicles had the blaze under control around 5:00pm.

"A grass fire burned 15 acres of land and six hay bales south of Cemetery Road near U.S. Highway 87, Canyon Fire Chief Mike Webb said.

No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged, he Webb.

Six units responded to the call about 2:36 p.m. Wednesday, Webb said. The fire was under control at 2:59 p.m., he said, and the blaze was extinguished at 5:01 p.m."
