A foot chase through the Good Will parking lot on I40 & Bell led to the arrest of 1 man in Amarillo.  The man was parking lot pimpin' it, looking for cars he could pull a fast jack move on, they call it "auto burglary".

"On Monday, August 5th, at approximately 6:15pm, 2 APD officers working Directed Patrol observed a white male subject prowling around some business near I-40 and Bell. One APD officer in full uniform exited the unmarked police vehicle and began to approach the W/M while the other officer remained in the driver’s seat also asking the subject to stop so they could talk with him. The W/M subject turned and looked at both officers and began to walk away at a faster pace. The officers identified themselves as police offices and the suspect took off running. A short foot pursuit took place between several buildings between the Goodwill store, All Storage facility and the Relax Inn (all located near I-40 & Bell). The suspect was seen throwing several items on the ground during the pursuit. The subject was finally apprehended and taken into custody. Subsequent investigation lead officers to check the parking lot of Goodwill Industries where officers learned that at least one vehicle had recently been broken into and that officers had recovered several stolen items during the foot pursuit. Officers also located a .38 caliber handgun that suspect also attempted to discard."

The suspect is identified as William Dale Pachta W/M 36 of Amarillo. Pachta was arrested and booked into the Potter County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Evading Arrest/Detention, Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
