Amarillo Police Department Confirm Rapist Rumors To Be False

Over the past few days a rumor has been flying around the social media world about a rapist wandering around here in Amarillo.  Police have confirmed that it is not true.

On Monday someone began posting a Facebook message reporting a rapist roaming the streets in Amarillo.  We reported on it not confirming, but as a warning.

When we hear horrible stories like this, we feel that the public has the right to know.  Thankfully, the rapist story was just a rumor.  The Amarillo Police Department confirmed that no sexual assaults have been reported in the Paramount area.

The Police do have a program called Nixle, that allows you to get notification on  crime safety, personal information, tips or things that the police feel you need to know about.

Growing up my mom always told me 'it's better to be safe than sorry,' and I completely agree.  I'm glad that Tommy wrote the blog about the rapist.  Even though it turned out false, it just reminds me that anything can happen and to be careful.

It is such good news that there is no rapist on the loose.  And if you see or know of a crime, you should report it to the police immediately!
