With Interstate 40 running right through the middle of Amarillo, you can bet your paycheck that there are people smuggling drugs and other things right through our city on a daily basis!  So it's not a shock when Amarillo Police Officers make a routine traffic stop, and it transforms into something much greater than that.  Like finding methamphetamine in a car that's well over $300,000!

Yes, from marijuana, to meth, to pills, the fact that I-40 runs all across the country makes it a highly traveled highway by people from all over the place, and it would be hard to put a number on what percent of those people are trafficking something.

So when an Amarillo Police Officer makes a stop on I-40, they can truly count on 1 thing, they have no idea what could be in the vehicle they are pulling over and what is about to happen.  One of the highest risks of being a police officer.

Amarillo Globe News reports:

About 2:15 p.m., a Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling east on I-40 six miles east of Conway. During the traffic stop, the trooper searched the vehicle and found 4,658 grams of meth in the vehicle’s heater core, trooper Gabriel Medrano said.

The driver, Griselda Petra Sanchez, 23, of Oklahoma City and her passenger, Melissa Marquez, 23, of Los Angeles, were arrested on a first-degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.

The street value is an estimated $390,107!  That folks is a LOT of meth!

Stay away from meth kids!  Trust uncle Dallas!  Have a look at what meth can do to your body and face and teeth, ewwwwww!  No!  Don't do it!  But do have some fun looking at some Faces of Meth!
