Amarillo Tri-State Fair – Deep Fried Foods Face-Off – Twinkie VS Fast-Break [VIDEO/POLL]

Diet?  What diet?  It's 1 week out of every year when I throw good eating habits out the window, and eat over a pound of grease in a matter of 1 week at the Amarillo Tri-State Fair.  The Deep Fried Face-Off begins, where I'll be sampling the best of the best deep fried deserts all week and finding out what tickles my taste buds and what's just something I spent $5 on for no reason.  The first competitors, the deep fried Twinkie and the deep fried Fast-Break.

Deep Fried Fast-Break

The Fast-Break is good, but it's not great.  It's almost too much.  Overwhelming with flavors, like getting punched in the tongue with chocolate and peanut butter!  Again, good, not great.  Even with a massive sweet tooth, it just seemed like to much.  I would compare it to a birthday cake that you scrape the frosting off of.  You like the cake, but the frosting is just more than you wanted.  All I could taste was peanut butter and chocolate, I couldn't enjoy the batter, powdered sugar or strawberry syrup at all.  If you're a chocolate and peanut butter freak, this would probably be up your alley, but if you're like me and just want something sweet but not something that will send you into a sugar coma, than you need to avoid it.

Deep Fried Twinkie

For me, the Twinkie is hands down the winner!  It's the perfect blend of sweetness in my mouth.  One flavor doesn't overtake the other, as it did with the Fast-Break.  I could taste everything and it blended so well as I chewed it up.  It hit my tongue and as I took a bite, all the flavors hit my taste buds and it was so nice.  The powdered sugar and strawberry syrup mixed with the batter, the cake part of the Twinkie and the cream filling.  They all complimented each other in what I thought was the absolute perfect blend of sweetness!

Round 1, ends with the deep fried Twinkie right at the top!  I'll be trying more of the deep fried deliciousness at the Tri-State Fair all week, so keep checking back to see what's a gift to my tongue!

At the end of the Fair, I'll be holding an overall poll to get your opinion as to what is the absolute best of the best deep fried desert you can get!
