It's no secret the cost of everything is going up in Amarillo. Well, everything except gas it seems. That's on a downturn at the moment.

Well, without that source of protein, many turn to meat in order to get it. Chicken prices are down, which seems so strange considering egg prices are through the roof.

Seafood seems to be holding relatively steady. It's red meat that seems to be the thing may are looking for though, and those prices are even starting to jump up a bit.

Sadly, it doesn't seem they're going to go down any time soon either. Many actually think the prices are going to rise a bit. So, the question is are there any places in Amarillo where you can get meat cheap?

Well, one person suggested going to Sam's Club simply because you can buy in bulk. Issue here is not everyone has a Sam's Club membership, but if you do, it's not a bad option.

Doc's Prime Cuts is a place that typically has some lower prices than average, and part of it is because of their connections.

They're actually an arm of WTAMU's agriculture arm, and Doc's is actually located right there on the campus.

The reason their prices are so cheap is because WTAMU apparently has their own herds, and they use those herds for teaching, so they sell the meat after the fact as a way to turn that into a profit for the university.

A couple of other things that were mentioned were making friends with someone who works at places like Caviness, Tyson, or JBS. They have one day per week where employees get special pricing, and it's a great way to save.
