Texas has always been one of those states at the forefront of technological advances. We are a proud state that is all about being the first to try something or develop it. Austin has always had shades of Silicon Valley in it.

I mean, Austin is the first city in Texas to test out driverless Uber, so you'd think this particular thing would be right up their alley.

However it's not Austin that is at the forefront of this development. Remember when drones were introduced to the world? There were so many plans for them and what they'd be able to do. Many times it was bandied about that they'd be able to deliver groceries and more.

Well, we aren't quite at the point where they can deliver full-on grocery orders, but they are starting to deliver smaller items and orders from restaurants in Texas.

You may have seen the ad during the Super Bowl with Pepsi and Wing where customers in Frisco placed an order for some game snacks and they were delivered right to them via drone. That wasn't just something that was AI generated.

That was real.

Wing had already partnered with 11 different Walmart's in cities across North Texas, and in December, expanded to restaurants via DoorDash. Truthfully, I'd be worried about my food or drinks ending up all over people's rooftops considering it's flying through the air.

However, Wing promises that not only will your order show up with no spillage, but they'll be there faster than a car and arrive as hot as you'd expect it to be if you ordered it at the establishment and enjoyed it there.

The company says anything that weighs 5.5 pounds or less is capable of being delivered via the drone, and I'm sure they're already researching how they can get bigger orders delivered.
