Sergeant’s Death Marks Second Sorrowful Loss For Randall County Sheriff’s Office
The Randall County Sheriff's Office has announced the sudden passing of a second sergeant.
According to the release, posted to the agency's social media page, Sergeant Gary Goodner passed on Wednesday, May 17 after a prolonged battle with an unspecified illness.
Sergeant Goodner had been a member of the Randall County Sheriff's Office since 2014. The release goes on to commemorate the sergeant for the impact his positive presence made on other members of the force.
The release asked that the public include the family of Goodner in their prayers.
The loss of sergeant Gary Goodner comes on the heels of another unexpected and tragic death of another sergeant at RSCO just days prior.
Sergeant Jay Claxton died on Sunday, May 14 after he was involved in an major collision on Buccola Street while off duty.
In both statements, Sheriff Christopher Fobis asked for the prayers of the public on behalf of each sergeant's family along with a biblical scripture dedicated to each.
For Goodner, Sheriff Forbis commemorated the sergeant with II Corinthians 5:6-8
“So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”
