I got a phone call from a listener yesterday who was talking about a mural, or painting, they had seen on the side of a business here in Amarillo.  The mural, which you've probably seen, resides on the side of Ribs N More at the corner of 6th & Georgia.  The topic, is it a racist painting?

I've drove by it many times, and while I might have chuckled, thinking, "they painted Buck Wheat on the side of that building", I never had the thought that this was a racist mural.

But yesterday, as I was talking to this anonymous listener, they kept saying it was a very racist painting.  We argued it out for a few minutes, but no matter what I said, this person kept insisting that the painting is racist.

I was saying "well what if a black person owns it, is it still racist to you?"  Their answer, was yes!  They insisted that no matter the color of the owner's skin, this mural is racist.

The example they gave was.  "Are they saying black people and ribs go together like kool-aid and sugar?"

So to settle this argument once and for all, I beg the following of you.

*Quick Update*

Thanks for everyone that voted in the poll!  The results are crystal clear on this one!

Yes - 1.24%

Maybe - 5.88%

No - 87.31%

Other - 5.57%

So with all the votes in the poll, I think we can safely say that this listener was wrong and this mural isn't even close to being racist.  It's very nice to see that we don't have a bunch of narrow minded people in the Texas Panhandle!  You guys rock!  Thanks for sharing your opinion!

Now go give Ribs N More a try!  Their food is fan-freaking-tastic!
