Being a parent is tough.  We all have to make decisions that we sometimes don't want to have to make.  Should you buy your teen a new or used car as their first ever car?

Growing up, I can remember dreaming of the first car I ever wanted.  Of course, it was a truck.  But being from a family of 5 siblings and a single mom I knew that a new car was out of the question.  My mom worked hard and I couldn't ask her to that.

When I turned 15, I got my hardship license to help my mom out.  So then began the process of getting a car.  I didn't know what the outcome was going to be.  And to be honest I really didn't car.  I was 15 and able to drive legally!

I still remember it like it was yesterday.  My mom comes in and asked if I passed my driving test, which of course I did.  She then says ok, you will be driving the Oldsmobile Delta 88.  It was a hand me down car.  It had been in the family forever and it was a big boat.

I didn't dare complain because I didn't want to make my mom feel bad.  I just said ok and that was the end of the discussion.

To be honest the car wasn't bad.  It was big but it got us where we needed to go.  And I was able to drive my little sister and myself around to do what we needed to do.

Last night I began thinking of my son.  Should I buy him a new car or a used one?  Most kids who are new drivers usually have at least one accident as they get comfortable on the road.

What do you think, take our poll.  What was your first car?
