Warning, Don’t Answer a Call From Scammers
The Potter County Sheriff's Department is notifying the public of a caller claiming to be a Potter County Constable telling people to purchase a prepaid debit card to pay for outstanding warrants.
According to the Department, the caller is claiming to be Constable Mike Duval and is calling from the number (806) 553-2267. They are telling victims that they have an arrest warrant and can buy MoneyPak Green Dot Card to pay their fines and avoid arrest.
The Sheriff's Office reminds residents that no law enforcement agency ever asks for money over the phone and will definitely not ever ask anyone to purchase a green dot card to pay fines with.
Anyone that receives a call similar to this is advised to hang up the phone and block the number.
