10-Year-Old Girl Swallowed By Giant Crocodile

Not trying to be funny, but this story can be hard to swallow.  A turtle hunt goes wrong in Indonesia as a 10 year old girl get's killed and eaten by a saltwater crocodile as her father watches in horror.

Recalling the account, the family, including father, the daughter along with her brother were all out hunting for turtles in the East Nusa Tenggara province. The 10 year old girl, Juraida, was dragged into the water by a crocodile while she was in about a half a meter of water in the river.

Her family (father & brother) were merely a few yards away, but it all happened so fast, they could do nothing but watch as the crocodile drug the little girl under water and killed her.

A rescue team later discovered a dress and a hair ribbon on the sand near the site of the incident on the Wailolong river.

Juraida's body has not yet been found.

Locals had told officials they had been seeing crocodiles sun bathing at the mouth of the river just days before the incident, but officials made no public warning for locals to stay away and avoid the area due to the crocodiles.
