Police Issue Update On Attempted Abduction of Kids By Man In Van

UPDATE: Amarillo police say a reported attempted abduction near Arden Road Elementary involving a man in a van with candy was a prank. Police issued the above warning on Monday after receiving a  report of a man in a white pick-up truck trying to lure kids into his truck.

Police initially said a parent contacted principle Christopher Norton of Arden Road Elementary on Monday. The parent reported a man driving around in a white truck cruising around this past weekend trying to lure kids into his vehicle. According to initial reports, the unidentified man pulled up to a child, open the door and try to bribe them with candy to get in his truck! However, police later said that the incident was a prank by teenagers.

According to ProNews 7, police said "it was irresponsible teenagers that caused this concern and confusion" and that it was "merely teenage boys being teenage boys."
