Day 2 Of Help 4 The Holidays Better, But Work To Do
Thank you Amarillo. After a very slow day one, you came through and started to show up for day two. We had more of you show up before noon than we did all of day one.
However, as nice as it was to see those who made it out, we need to keep increasing the number of donations that make it out here.
Some of the items we saw come in were toiletries, cleaning supplies, and a few toys as well. Those are the top three categories in which we need items, so we have to keep those coming in.
Diapers and wipes are going to be high on our list as are craft supplies. When you talk about the top five categories, there they are.
Dollar stores are incredible for the toiletries, cleaning supplies, and crafts. Discount stores like Ollie's, Ross, and Big Lots will show you a lot of toys at bargain prices.
So I wanted to give you an idea. Run with it or not, but I want you to realizer the possibilities here, ok?
Gather up your co-workers and have everyone chip in a little bit. Say you work with 20 people and everyone chips in $10. Not a lot of money per person, but add it up and all of a sudden you're holding $200.
What can you do with that? Take it to the dollar store and you could walk out with approximately 150 items. No, seriously, do the math.
Do you know how far 150 items would go for these nonprofits? Think about the amount of people you would all be helping. 20 people banding together and helping HUNDREDS of others in the community.
That's a pretty good feeling isn't it? So what are you waiting for, take a look at the list, solicit your co-workers, and go have some fun shopping. Trust me, it'll set your holiday stretch off the right way.
