A Breakthrough On Day 4 Propels Help 4 The Holidays
Oh Amarillo, how I love thee. After a few slow days to kick off Help 4 The Holidays, you really showed up in a big way on Thursday.
However, it doesn't mean the task is complete. Thursday was one of those days that gave the event a major kickstart, but now we have to maintain the momentum.
We had some major highlights throughout the day. Our first donation showed up around 8 am and that's something we hadn't come close to seeing the first few days.
Once that first one made it in, we experienced a bit of a breakthrough. Several carloads of toiletries, cleaning supplies, and even some craft items began to roll in over the course of the next couple of hours.
Byrd Adkins D.D.S. rolled through with a bunch of toothbrushes, toothpaste, and lip balm so that represented our first Amarillo business to show up at the event.
Then just a bit after 1 pm, we had a bit of a breakthrough when it came to toys. A man named Chris showed up with a trunk full of toys, not to mention his passenger seat. There must've been 30 toys we ended up bringing inside.
So as we move on to day five, we continue to need everything. However, we have a bit of an emphasis on diapers and wipes. Comparative to the other items and categories we've begun to fill, the diapers and wipes are lagging behind.
Now, if it's on the list, we still need it, and a lot of it. So don't be shy about grabbing items other than diapers or wipes. Anything and everything you bring off the list is needed, and we need a lot of it.
So maybe you're taking the day off of work today, or maybe you've got a little time during your lunch break to drop by. We'd love to see you and keep this moving along. Remember, there are thousands of people in need this holiday season. If you are in a position to help, please do.
Day five is going to be huge...I feel it.
