It isn't unusual for teachers to resign, but they usually give a reason-I'm ready to retire or I found a better opportunity with another school, etc.  The River Road band director resigned and nobody is commenting.

Melvin Evans has been a band director for 15 years and on Tuesday afternoon he resigned without explanation.  And when Assistant Superintendent Gaye Lynn Dampf was asked for comment, all he said was that the district made a report to the Amarillo Police department.

With everything going on in schools now a days, I automatically thought teacher-student relations.   But Evans made this statement to the press:

“I can guarantee you it’s nothing to do with sexual misconduct. I would never ever, ever, ever do anything to harm any of my students."

So what could be left?  Did he steal from the school?  Whatever it was, it was enough to have a report filed with the APD.  The details will come out soon enough, but I'm hoping it is nothing to do with the students.
