As we sit here one week away from Christmas, I wanted to take a moment to stop and say thank you Amarillo. The entire idea of Christmas from a material standpoint is to give.

And give is exactly what you did.

As we put a wrap on year two of Help 4 The Holidays, your heart came out. In a year where so many people ran into struggles, whether significant or insignificant, you still showed up for your community.

Without question, you helped more people in the Amarillo and Canyon area than our first year, which was a resounding success in its own right, this second year exceeded our expectations.

For seven days, we sat here and broadcasted live not for us, but for our community. We've seen the homeless problem in Amarillo grow exponentially this year. We have friends who have cut back on so many things in their life just to afford the basics.

Clearly you have as well. The outpouring of support was unimaginable, and there are simply no words for that. I can say thank you a thousand times over, and it simply won't be enough.

I know it can be wearing to hear us talking about it for seven straight days, so thank you for sticking with us. Please know it's all for a good reason and cause.

20 local non-profits can now help thousands of people in need here in Amarillo. Children that wouldn't have gotten any gifts for Christmas will now be able to smile, laugh, and play. Parents can smile along with them, and stay warm under those blankets you brought.

Our homeless community can now stay warmer through those long winter days and nights, while others will be able to truly clean their house with the cleaning supplies provided to them and keep the germs away so their family doesn't get sick.

In this season of giving, you gave. You gave with your heart, your wallet, or extra supplies and things at home. So for one last time, thank you from the bottom of our heart for coming together for this incredible city and community.

Wishing you a healthy, happy, and prosperous holiday and new year. We'll see you next year for our 3rd annual Help 4 The Holidays.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
